The earliest known study on muira puama was reported in the November 1994 issue of The American Journal of Natural Medicine*. A 2018 pilot study studied the effects of a vitamin blend containing muira puama for treating ED. After the three-month-long trial, participants experienced a statistically significant improvement in ED.
Amazonian communities have been using muira puama for centuries as an aphrodisiac. A study examined this. The researchers put a group of 202 post-menopausal women on muira puama and measured their libido before and after one month of treatment. 65 percent of the women experienced an increase in sexual thoughts and their ability to achieve orgasm.
